State of the Regulated: CFTC ‘Hopeful' About Finalizing a Torrent of Rules, Definitions

The CFTC has finalized 31 of 56 proposed rules for the Dodd-Frank Act, but some of the toughest ones are still in play.

Like an ant trying to move a rubber tree, Dan Berkovitz has high hopes. The general counsel of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) delivered a sort of "State of the Union" address at this year's Energy Risk USA conference in Houston, explaining how the regulatory body is progressing in its finalization of Dodd–Frank Act rules.

Berkovitz says the CFTC has made great headway with 31 of the 56 rules it has proposed as a result of Dodd–Frank. He says he is hopeful that the CFTC will
