Scott Powell will head up Banco Santander's Boston-based arm, Santander US.

The story states Powell, who previously served as JPMorgan Chase's head of consumer-banking operations, will be named the CEO of the Boston-based arm of the firm. Santander US owns Santander Bank N.A. and 60.5 percent of Santander Consumer US.

The WSJ story says the move to bring in Powell, 52, is being made in an effort to better relationships with US regulators, according to its sources. Santander US appointed Timothy Ryan, Jr., previously a vice chairman for regulatory affairs at JPMorgan, chairman of its board in December.
