Information Mosaic Launches IMValue

Post-trade support software provider Information Mosaic has launched IMValue, a suite of performance indicators and analytics tools that promises to better automate the extraction of corporate actions information at faster speeds and with a better method for supporting risk management in corporate actions.

"We've learned about the level of frustration organizations have at an operational level in getting a business case [strong] enough to automate a process or some function in the operational area," says Gerard Bermingham, senior vice president of business strategy at Information Mosaic. "It's always been much easier to provide statistical information and actual values when you're looking at it from a front-office application perspective. When looking at operational efficiencies and risk, it's much harder to quantify that and to provide a figure of what efficiency gains you get and the value of the risk you will mitigate by changing a particular process or automating it."

Even a single corporate actions instruction can currently take 15 minutes to travel from portfolio manager to custodian to confirmation, notes Bermingham. This may not sound like long, but it adds up for all such instructions being processed annually, he adds. IMValue addresses this through automation capabilities.

"Portfolio managers can input their information directly, and it is sent directly to operations and corporate actions teams, then directly to the custodian via Swift," says Bermingham. "You can reduce the time to five minutes. So there's a lot of efficiency gained, even on a single transaction."

IMValue also speeds up the processing of notifications and improves upon the quality of those notifications, according to Bermingham. "Asset managers can quickly see if they have to constantly re-send information to a custodian because it's wrong, and if another custodian is getting it right the first time, they can tell the first custodian that their service is not good enough," he says.

The new suite of tools enables better risk management, says Bermingham, because it eliminates a time-consuming, spreadsheet-based method of extracting relevant risk data. IMValue identifies areas of concern, using risk and compliance efficiency models. It can quantify the value of performance indicators, and model for revenue, cost and balance sheet implications. IMValue also offers a real-time dashboard for monitoring post-trade performance in risk and benchmark quality.
