Innovation can mean different things to different parts of the capital markets, but it is uniformly seen as a positive driver for technology architectures. Cost will always be a barrier, but firms also need to have the right culture and attitude in place.

This was the underlying message during a panel discussion at this year's European Trading Architecture Summit in London. 

Duncan Cooper, who works in Bloomberg's business connectivity and integration division, raised the point that while
