US regulators' next move will be to require instituting chief valuation officer role

The next likely development in regulation of securities valuations is a requirement that firms designate a "chief valuation officer," according to Jay Baris, a partner at Morrison Foerster, the San Francisco-based international law firm, who spoke at the Global Fund Valuation Forum sponsored by Thomson Reuters in New York on June 1.
