The startup believes its volumes of contributors and consumers are now sufficient to move from beta to live production.

Smartkarma, which is attempting to change the way institutions create, distribute and consume research, now has more than 70 contributing firms and 400 analysts providing research on the Asian financial markets to its cloud-based research and analysis marketplace, and has more than 100 institutions using the platform, ranging from large sovereign wealth funds and long-only asset managers to small and mid-sized hedge funds. Officials say 70 percent of the vendor's customer base comes from outside
