SMA Increases Coverage, Frequency of Sentiment Scores

Currently, SMA provides sentiment scores on more than 3,100 US equities, but by the end of the second quarter plans to expand its asset class coverage to include commodities and currencies, says chief executive Joe Gits.

SMA is currently carrying out research to quantify the mathematical predictability of tweets on commodity and currency instruments, but Gits says that their predictive power could be stronger than in equities, given the volume of conversations around commodities and currencies.
