CME Preps FAST Feed Pilot for Q3

The Chicago Mercantile Exchange will next month begin beta-testing a datafeed based on the bandwidth-reducing FAST (FIX Adapted for Streaming data) protocol, ahead of launching a full production feed early in the third quarter of this year, officials say.

The exchange expects to fully migrate subscribers to the FAST feed by the end of 2008, after an "extended sunset period" for its proprietary RLC feed, says Matt Simpson, associate director of trading architecture at the CME.
