According to a cross-section of the industry polled by IMD for this report, brokers and vendors expect to see growth in areas such as credit default swaps and indexes, bond ETFs (exchange-traded funds) and ETNs (exchange-traded notes), and sharia-compliant instruments to capture demand from the growing Middle East market.

For example, Rafah Hanna, head of market data at European bond market MTS, says he expects to see more interest in bond ETFs, based on a 33 percent year-to-date rise in assets
