Borsa Italiana Suffers New Year's Glitch

LONDON—The first trading day of the New Year got off to a late start for traders of Italian securities as technical difficulties delayed the opening of MTA and MTAX markets, on which Borsa Italiana negotiates share, convertible bond, warrant and option trades.
According to an official statement from the exchange, the delay was the result of "a technical problem on the procedures handled by the IT provider of Borsa Italiana."
