A last-ditch plea to regulators to take a lenient approach once the variation margin requirements come into effect may fall on deaf ears.
Deadline days can be a lot of different things to different people: For some, it's that special part of a sporting season when their team scrambles to make last ditch efforts to sign players they didn't really want but now have to make do with. For journalists, it's a time when the pressure cranks up a notch and time seems to lose its normal flow (see my US colleague Dan DeFrancesco's article on this).
