An examination of how exchanges—already migrating to the cloud—are working to solve the problem of multicasting in a new environment.
Peter Williams recalls how the advent of IP multicast technology changed the face of market data distribution around the start of the new millennium. During that time, Williams held a series of market data engineering support roles at firms such as interdealer broker Tullett Prebon, and investment banks Credit Suisse and BNP Paribas. Back then, firms used broadcast, a legacy distribution protocol for distributing data from a source to multiple points on a local area network.
